| Dr. Jill Burgess is a native of Nashville and has always loved animals. Although she didn't begin her professional career in veterinary medicine, she was destined to end up here. Dr. Burgess began her career in the human medical technology field, where she worked for over 11 years as an ASCP certified Medical Technologist. While she greatly enjoyed her work in this field, she realized that her true calling was in veterinary medicine. In May of 2003, Dr. Burgess graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Burgess gained experience practicing both large and small animal medicine. She quickly realized that her passion was working with smaller animals. The bond between beloved family companions and their owners is a relationship that has always been close to Dr. Burgess' heart. She takes great pride in the role she plays in keeping these companions healthy and happy for life. In April of 2006, Dr. Burgess came to work with Dr. Greene at Greene Animal Hospital. As Dr. Greene began entertaining the idea of retirement, he and Dr. Burgess began discussing her taking over the practice. The more consideration she gave this possibility, the more exciting the idea became. She decided this was the right step for her, as well as the practice. On July 1, 2007, ownership of Greene Animal Hospital was officially transferred to Dr. Burgess. In the summer of 2008, Dr. Burgess changed the name of the practice to Animal Hospital of West Nashville and began a major renovation and expansion project to better serve her patients and clients. Dr. Burgess recognizes that treatment and technology are constantly advancing in veterinary medicine. She is dedicated to ensuring that Animal Hospital of West Nashville is on the forefront of veterinary care. Dr. Burgess wants AHWN to be known as "a place where pets receive loving attention in an atmosphere which upholds the highest standards of the profession." Dr. Burgess and her fiance, Tommy Strange, share their home with an assortment of dogs and cats. Among them is an italian greyhound (Tessa), a Jack Russell Chihuahua cross (Winston), 3 big dog mixes (Max, Reesey, and Grizzly) and 2 little dog mixes (Millie and Mollie). They are also managed by 12 adoring kitties. |
