Our HistoryOur veterinary practice is the second oldest in Tennessee, dating back to the mid-1920s when Dr. V.D. Bohannon opened his doors on Hillsboro Road. In 1946, Dr. W.O. Greene, Jr. bought the practice and renamed it Greene Animal Hospital. Dr. Greene, Jr. was a founding member of the American Animal Hospital Association and served the clients of Greene Animal Hospital for over 30 years until he passed away in 1978. At this time Dr. Greene III, who had been working alongside his father for eight years, carried on the family tradition of veterinary excellence by taking over his father's practice. In 1987, Greene Animal Hospital relocated to its current location at 110 Harding Place in Belle Meade. In the Spring of 2006, Dr. Jill Burgess began providing assistance to Dr. Greene, serving the clients of Greene Animal Hospital in his absence. When Dr. Greene decided he was ready for semi-retirement, he asked Dr. Burgess to consider taking over the practice. On July 1 2007, ownership of the practice was transferred to Dr. Burgess, who described the event as "continuing a legacy." In the summer of 2008 the name of the practice was officially changed to Animal Hospital of West Nashville. In conjunction with the new name, the practice is undergoing a major renovation and expansion project. This expansion includes an additional exam room and a new grooming space, as well as new services and technology in veterinary medicine. |
